Now, More Arts Education

In December 2015, the US Congress passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which replaces No Child Left Behind as the signature piece of national education legislation. The new law includes the arts alongside math and language arts in its definition of a "well-rounded education."

Show Some Arts Love: Participate in the Arts & Economic Prosperity Study

Once every five years United Arts  administers the Wake County portion of the Americans for the Arts Arts & Economic Prosperity study. More than 100 communities nationwide are taking part in this statistical study of how the nonprofit arts sector impacts the community’s economy.

Awards Recognize Community Support for the Arts

Clearly, it is award season.  People’s Choice, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Oscars….just to name a few this month and next. At United Arts, we give out awards in January as well.  Ours go to individuals and companies who deserve recognition for their long service—both financial and personal--to our arts community in Wake County.  

Piedmont Laureate Program Celebrates the Art of Writing

United Arts—together with the City of Raleigh Arts Commission, Durham Arts Council and the Orange County Arts Commission—have sponsored  the Piedmont Laureate in 150 appearances over the last seven years. Piedmont Laureate James Maxey (science fiction/fantasy) will be wrapping up his 2015 appointment at an event in Durham on Dec. 2.
