As the eastern Wake County towns of Knightdale, Wendell and Zebulon address growth and urbanization, the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County will work with these communities to ensure the arts are included in their strategic planning. This two-year project is funded in part by a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
This comprehensive planning process will be used in each town to gather citizen input and generate citizen excitement about the possibilities for artistic activities within their own community. Led by a consultant, United Arts, along with the leaders and citizens of each town, will create individual cultural plans tailored to each community's identity, resources and interests. Based on the information gathered, United Arts will revise its own programs for delivering arts services and create new arts delivery services if needed.
Public meetings will begin in September 2011 and will be two-way opportunities for education and assessment. For more information, please contact Virginia Zehr at GZehr@unitedarts.org
