Every Spring, the 4th Congressional District, represented by US Representative David Price, and the 13th Congressional District, represented by US Representative Brad Miller, join hundreds of Congressional districts throughout the country in hosting an arts competition for high school students. The Congressional High School Arts Competition in both districts is open to high school students in public and private high schools as well as home-schooled students.
A panel of judges from each county will review all the entries to select the top three for the District. Winners will be announced at a reception on Monday, May 3, 2010, 6-8 pm at Burwell School Historic Site, 319 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC.
The first-place students will have their work hung in Washington, DC in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. Two round-trip tickets to DC will be available to each first-place student for the ribbon cutting ceremony in June. First-place recipients in each district will receive a $1500 admissions scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design and a $500 U.S. Savings Bond presented by AT&T. Other prizes are included for second and third place winners.
