The artwork of Brenda M. Schmidt is on exhibit at WakeMed May 13 – July 8, 2009. Schmidt, an employee of WakeMed, is a self-taught artist whose primary medium is acrylic on canvas. She works with watercolor and mixed mediums.
Schmidt enjoys a broad range of subject matter. Many of her paintings fall between realism and abstraction. These paintings, depicting real subject matter, become abstract with the use of energetic line, color, scale, texture and shape.
Originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvia, Schmidt moved to Cary, NC, in 1997. Her blog --
www.innerprints.org -- features her paintings and the work of other artists and creative people.
This exhibition is made possible by United Arts of Raleigh and Wake County in partnership with WakeMed.
