Wake County, the City of Raleigh Arts Commission, and the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County invite all City and County employees and their immediate family members to enter the sixth annual National Arts Program® competition and exhibition, December 4, 2008, through January 13, 2009. The deadline for employees to submit intent to participate is Wednesday, November 12, at 4 p.m.

This art exhibit, in collaboration with The National Arts Program® Foundation, Inc., of Malvern, PA, showcases the diverse and artistic talents of municipal employees of Raleigh and Wake County and their families. A jury of recognized artists and arts professionals will judge all works. Cash prizes will be awarded in the exhibition’s five artistic classifications: amateur, intermediate, advanced, youth ages 12-17, and youth under 12 years. There is no fee to enter the program.

In the adult classifications, winners will receive $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. In the youth classifications, $75 will go to first-place, $50 to second-place, and $25 to third-place winners. A Best of Show award of $300 will be presented.

The National Arts Program® was conceived by Leonard E. B. Andrews, art collector, publisher, business executive and journalist, “for the encouragement and development of artistic expression.”
