Every spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The "Congressional High School Arts Competition: An Artistic Discovery" provides an opportunity to support and showcase the artistic talents of students in our Congressional Districts and across the nation.
- $5,000 per year scholarship to Savannah College of Art & Design (total of $20,000 if student stays for four years)
- For the 4th District, Southwest Airlines is providing three round-trip tickets for the winning student and two guests to fly to Washington, D.C., for the ribbon cutting ceremony in June, where first-prize winners from across the country will have their winning artworks hung in the U.S. Capitol Building’s Canon Tunnel for one year
- For the 13th District, American Airlines is providing three round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. (one each for the winning student, one parent, and the art teacher) for the ribbon cutting ceremony in June, where first-prize winners from across the country will have their winning artworks hung in the Canon Tunnel for one year
- $500 savings bond sponsored by AT&T
- The teacher of the winning student from each District will receive a $100 honorarium sponsored by AT&T and a complimentary artist’s workshop sponsored by Jerry’s Artarama
- Complimentary framing of the winning piece by Jerry’s Artarama
- $50 gift certificate from Jerry’s Artarama
- Second place will hang in the respective Congressman’s Washington, D.C. office for a period of one year
- Third place will hang in the respective Congressman’s Raleigh office for a period of one year
- $50 gift certificate to Jerry’s Artarama
- Hanging the designated artwork in Congressman Miller’s Greensboro office for one year
