United Arts To Participate in
September 2 Pops in the Park
Concert With NC Symphony

Music lovers are invited to join WRAL-TV and the North Carolina Symphony for an evening of live entertainment and fun for the whole family! WRAL’s 28th Annual Pops in the Park will be held at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Sunday, September 2, at 7pm. Gates open at 4:30pm for this free event. Grammy-nominated, local artist Tift Merritt takes the stage with the Symphony this year. As always, the concert ends with Tchaikovsky’s stirring 1812 Overture, complete with fireworks launched over Symphony Lake in Regency Park. WRAL News anchor and reporter Cullen Browder hosts the concert.

Patrons who arrive early can pick a prime spot from which to watch the concert, and enjoy some bonus entertainment and activities. The venue will rock with Capitol Broadcasting Company’s own band, “Transmit This!’ beginning at 5:00 pm. WRAL Traffic reporter and “Transmit This!” drummer, Mark Roberts, hosts the afternoon entertainment. While the stage rocks, United Arts of Wake County and Visual Art Exchange will turn the sidewalks into art! Chalk pastels will be available for people of all ages to create an art display for all to enjoy, along with family games and prizes. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic. Food will also be available at the Amphitheatre, as for all events. Pets are not allowed.

WRAL-TV will broadcast Pops in the Park on Monday, September 3 at 7pm. UNC-TV will broadcast the program on Thursday, September 20, at 10pm. For more information, please contact WRAL-TV Executive Producer Phyllis Parish at (919) 821-8646.
