The United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County announces the investment of nearly a half million dollars in grants support for arts programming in the current fiscal year. Additionally, grants for the Artists in Schools program and Regional Artists Grants will be announced in September and December, respectively. In total, United Arts will expend over $1 million in support of artists, schools and arts programming in 2007-2008.
United Arts supported 2007-2008 arts programming in the following categories: Arts in Education, Audience Engagement, Arts Services, Community Arts Programming, Festivals, Municipal Partnerships, Seed Funding and Youth Arts Programming. Qualifying nonprofit organizations, as well as schools and Wake municipalities, were eligible to apply for grants to support arts programming occurring between July 1, 2007, and June 30, 2008. Qualifying grant applications totaled $815, 018, of which $495,619 or nearly 62% were funded. Arts programming to be presented by more than 40 organizations received support funding.
