New Creative Vitality Index
for Wake County
Remains Above National Average

Earlier this month WESTAF (Western States Arts Federation) released its second Creative Vitality Index (CVI™) for Wake County for the years 2009 and 2010. The CVI was conceived as a tool that states, counties, cities and towns can use to assess and enhance their creative edge. In these challenging economic times, Wake County's creative economy remains steady. The new 2010 CVI for Wake County is 1.03. Although 3% above the national baseline, the new CVI for Wake County is lower than the 2008 score for Wake County of 1.28.

"Even in tough economic times, the arts remain strong in Wake County," says Eleanor Oakley, President and CEO of United Arts. "The CVI places Wake County in a national context and gives us data to help strengthen the arts in our schools, businesses, and homes," Ms. Oakley continued. "And by strengthening the arts, we strengthen our community."
