United Arts hosts its second annual Arts Integration Institute for elementary schools June 18 - 22, 2007, at the Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School in downtown Raleigh. Each school participating in the Institute will send a team of four participants-an administrator, arts teacher, classroom teacher and parent-to study with some of the best artist-educators from North Carolina and Washington, D.C.
Fourteen schools from a three-county region will participate in one of two “tracks” during this five-day arts immersion experience. The teams will learn practical ways to use the arts in every area of the Standard Course of Study. By the close of the Institute, every team will have developed a plan to share what they have learned with the rest of their school. In addition, artist-educators from the Institute will visit their schools during the year to provide additional staff development.
This program is supported in part by the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts.
