Congressional High School Arts Competition Now Open
 
Every spring, the Fourth Congressional District, represented by U.S. Representative David Price, and the 13th Congressional District, represented by U.S. Representative Brad Miller, join hundreds of Congressional districts throughout the country in hosting an arts competition for high school students.
 
The Congressional High School Arts competition is open to high school students in public and private high schools as well as home-schooled students.
 
4th District Information
The Fourth District accepts entries from Wake, Durham and Orange Counties. If you live in and/or go to school in the Fourth District, you can enter Congressman Price's competition by contacting the United Arts Council at 919-839-1498 x233. Guidelines and an application form are now available: District 4 Guidelines (MS Word doc). You may also receive a copy of the guidelines and application form from your school's art teacher.
 
13th District Information
The 13th District accepts entries from Wake, Granville, Person, Caswell, Alamance, Guilford and Rockingham Counties. If you live in and/or go to school in the 13th District, you can enter Congressman Miller's competition by contacting his office at 1-877-272-3435 (or 836-1313 locally in Wake County). Guidelines and an application form are here. You will also receive a copy of the guidelines and application form from your school's art teacher.
 
Prizes for this contest include airline and hotel for the national level reception in Washington, DC, for the winner in both districts, a scholarship opportunity from Savannah School of Art and Design, free framing of the winning work. Teachers also may receive prizes and trip perks as well. Winners will be announced at a reception on May 5 at the North Carolina Museum of Art.
