WRAL's Pops in the Park will be hosted again by the Town of Cary at the beautiful Koka Booth Amphitheater at Regency Park, the North Carolina Symphony's summer home. This free concert performed by the North Carolina Symphony takes place Sunday, September 4, at 7 pm, with gates opening at 4:30 pm.
This year, NC favorite Mike Cross joins the Symphony with music celebrating the fabric of American life. As always, the concert end with Tchaikovsky's stirring "1812 Overture" and John Philip Sousa's patriotic crowd-pleaser, "The Stars and Stripes Forever," complete with fireworks launched over Symphony Lake in Regency Park.
Come early and enjoy the pre-show entertainment, including an instrument petting zoo open from 4:30-7:00 pm, sponsored by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County. This is the second year United Arts will collaborate with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra to present this interactive activity for families. United Arts will also present a performance by Carnavalito, an ensemble hailed as North Carolina's premier Latin music group. Their program combines Afro Cuban rhythms with jazz, meringue, cumbia, samba, salsa and more.
