United Arts supports the work of emerging and established arts organizations and the arts programming of community agencies and schools through organizational grants. Grant applications are reviewed by advisory panels of community volunteers selected to ensure artistic, ethnic and geographic representation in Wake County.
Required workshops were held in January for those interested in applying for our 2007-2008 Organizational Funding Opportunities. are designed to enhance and strengthen arts education in Wake County, to broaden or deepen programs offered for ages 3-18 and to encourage collaborations between artists, arts organizations and schools. Projects must take place within the pre K-12 school environment, school day and school year. Arts in Education grants are not intended to substitute for a school's arts education program and funds cannot be used for permanent arts education personnel. Wake County public, charter or private pre K-12 schools or nonprofit 501(c)(3), state and federal tax-exempt arts/cultural organizations with a principal office in Wake County may apply in this category.
are designed to support opportunities for arts instruction for pre K-12 children outside of the formal school environment, school day or school year, as well as performing arts series for youth. Examples include: summer arts camps, after-school and track-out arts program, classes, workshops, master classes, residencies and youth series (youth or families as targeted audience). Non-profit arts/cultural organizations with 501(c)(3), state and federal tax-exempt status or Wake County institutions of higher learning may apply in this category.
are designed to support arts programming that significantly bring value to downtowns and neighborhoods and/or serve specific ethnic or cultural communities. are designed to support festivals, communal celebrations involving significant amounts of arts programming, whose purpose is to highlight specific arts and/or cultures. Non-profit arts/cultural organizations with 501(c)(3), state and federal tax-exempt status and a principal office in Wake County or Wake County municipalities outside Raleigh may apply in this category. Additional eligibility requirements are listed in the guidelines.
is designed to support arts service organizations, those organizations that provide services and technical assistance and/or promote artists and arts organizations but do not themselves produce or present the arts and are not directly involved in the creative process. Only Wake County non profits are eligible for this funding. Non-profit arts service organizations with 501(c)(3), state and federal tax-exempt status and a principal office in Wake County may apply in this category. is designed to support emerging arts organizations that have begun to produce arts programming. The purpose of the funding is to help organizations develop their capacity for producing or presenting arts programs. These funds are available for up to two years. Receiving an initial award does not guarantee funding for the second year. Applicants for seed funding may not apply in any other United Arts grant category. United Arts staff is also available for consulting and technical assistance. Non-profit arts organizations with 501(c)(3), state and federal tax-exempt status, a principal office in Wake County and a majority of activities in Wake County may apply in this category. are intended to support entirely new endeavors or programs that improve or enhance current audience experiences. Examples: collaborations with other arts or community organizations, surtitles, pre- or post-show discussions, backstage tours, instrument petting zoos, lecture series, publications, etc. Generally, United Arts will not support a project for more than two years, and projects that receive funding are not guaranteed funding in subsequent years. Only non-profit arts organizations with 501(c)(3), state and federal tax-exempt status and a principal office in Wake County may apply in this category. encourage and support new partnerships between Wake County municipalities outside of Raleigh and existing Wake County arts organizations to produce and/or present arts programming.
