Works by Dale A. Morgan

Dale Morgan’s work consists of botanical and wildlife illustrations as well as nature inspired paintings. The series of work exhibited at Wake Med are “spirit animals”painted in a dream like state with bright imaginary colors. “Spirit animals are generally a reflection of one’s self and represent qualities that one needs to be successful in this life,” Morgan says.

Morgan grew up in South Carolina exploring nature in her mother’s flower gardens and drawing as often as possible. In 1989, she travelled across the United States and Canada for a year in a converted ’67 Chevrolet school bus visiting as many state and national parks as possible, experiencing their unique ecosystems up close. She travelled from South Carolina to Maine; from Canada to California and back to North Carolina where she’s made her home in Chapel Hill.

Graduating from the North Carolina Botanical Garden Botanical Illustration program in 2005, she has followed her dream of illustrating the flora and fauna around her Orange County home. Morgan says her detailed watercolor paintings and illustrations help educate the community about indigenous plants and animals and inspire others to respect and protect the natural world for future generations.
