United Arts promotes the arts as basic education for children in grades pre-K-12. Our arts education programs include Artists in the Schools and Arts in Education Initiative Grants. United Arts also provides professional development opportunities for teachers through Journey Through the Arts and an Arts Integration Institute.
United Arts and the Wake County Public School System are members of the Partners in Education Program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Selected for their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts, the partnership team participates in collaborative efforts to make the arts integral to education.

This program places professional artists in the classrooms of more than 100 Wake County public, private and charter schools through residencies, workshops and performances. Our annual Cultural Arts Festival offers an opportunity for school cultural arts representatives and other presenters to meet more than 100 local and national professional artists.

This professional development program is open to all Wake County educators, who can receive renewal credit by attending these events. JTTA aims to increase educators’ awareness, knowledge and appreciation for the arts, as well as to inform them of the arts resources available throughout our community.
