Music of the Renaissance

Music of the Renaissance
Invite artists who specialize in the time of the Renaissance to come into your school and let your children have a hands-on experience with music of the 14th through 17th centuries! Our costumed artists will perform on instruments like the crumhorn, hurdy-gurdy and various sizes of recorders and give the students a chance to learn about them and how they work. Information about culture, geography and clothing of the time will be discussed. This program can be presented as an interactive workshop for smaller groups (under 40 students, and will include a dance element, best for grade 3 and older) or as a concert performance for larger groups (40-400).

Artist Background

The Mallarmé Chamber Players are a nationally-acclaimed, Durham-based ensemble of professional musicians who perform in mixed ensembles of two to eight players. For more than 30 years, Mallarmé has used music to communicate, educate and inspire audiences. The ensemble offers concerts and educational activities for K-12 students and workshops for educators. Concerts and workshops are also available for community and social events. Planning with the classroom teacher, a study guide and an interactive presentation for each program all make for a well-rounded educational experience.
