Caribbean Mini-Carnival

Caribbean Mini-Carnival
This interactive performance explores the culture, customs and lifestyles of the Caribbean people through music, dance and storytelling. The program encourages student interaction through Call & Response songs, performing on rhythm instruments and practicing Calypso, Reggae and Soca dance styles. Each program is carefully tailored to the age of the audience. Mr. Mills will also demonstrate steel drumming techniques and explain how steel drums were used to communicate among members of repressed elements of a society where social gatherings were prohibited. The program will close with a Question & Answer session during which Mr. Mills will answer questions about the customs, practices and other elements of Caribbean culture.
